Now, if you have an SVO or a GT turbo (most likely both with more boost than stock) a 4 cylinder mustang is not putting down that kind of mph.
See sig. Not trying to start shit, just saying that I did trap close to 90mph last year on a 15.92 pass. The trap speed is good for low 15's, but my driving was obviously only good for high 15's. Trap speed is what indicates power, assuming nothing goes wrong on the run, and is a key part of the information about a pass. Unfortunately, most people tend to omit it and just say the ET, which really doesn't mean that much by itself.

Elevation or not, a C5 should trap in the mid 90's based on horsepower alone.

I've been to 3 or 4 of these events and highly recommend it to anyone. The price seems a bit high until you look at cost per pass. It has been two years since I've had my Camaro out there but at that time 3-4 passes on a T&T night was typical which meant about $10 per pass. I went easy and got around 15 passes which is somewhere around $5 per pass.

I'd be going but there isn't going to be time to swap my six speed for a TH400.

High High ET/ High MPH is a common trend on turbo cars. They are hard to get off the line. The problem is compounded with elevation as the turbo takes longer to spool up as less off-boost power means less exhaust gas velocity whihc mean slower spool up. Turbos tend to spike mush harder at altitude.

With a solid rear axle in an SVO and, ability to get lower gears cheaply, and availabilty of selecable lockers for the ford 8.8 (assuming you have an 85.5 or 86 SVO and not an 84 or 85 which used the 7.5 inch rear), you could actually make the SVO launch well for a turbo car.

The one thing to keep in mind that going just a little bit faster takes a whole lot more power. If you see a car trapping 90mph run ap against a car trapping at 100 mph, it looks like a slaughter.

I wouldn't mind getting out and running, I just don;t know if I will be in town or not. Also, with a 2 year old, the wife isn't too keen on me racing anymore. Racing also gets expensive.

Turbo cars are definitely hard to launch. I attribute most of my crappy ET's last season to the fact that I was bogging the car hard off the line on every run. I have a lot more seat time in it now, so hopefully I'll be able to slip the clutch just right to load the turbo and leave under boost without blowing the tires off.

All SVOs had 7.5 rears, but they came stock with 3.73s (except in '84, I think) and a trak-lok, so that's pretty much good to go for a while. The gradual torque load with the turbo four (as opposed to a V8 car) helps to make rear ends live a bit longer, lol. I did put in a set of H&R SS springs, though, so that's not going to help the launch much.

Hoping to get my exhaust finished up fairly soon, too, so that'll help quite a bit as far as power. I can feel the stock catback just choking the car.

    This is bothering me.

I thought the 85.5 SVO got an 8.8, quadshocks (instead of hop bars), 205hp (instead od 175), a fuel selector switch, and bold new headlights...

i always launch between 4500 and 5000. my whelliebars keep the tires about 6 inches off the ground and transfer all the wieght to the rear. i found i have to adjust tire pressure to slip the tires just a bit before they catch or i'll bog down.

All SVO's had 7.5" rears. Otherwise you're right, except that I think quad shocks started in '85 and possibly some late '84s, and all cars had the premium switch.
