Default Emerson Commander knife, what are your thoughts?

Who owns one? How well do you like it? Has it stood up to the abuse you have given it?

I currently carry a ZT 0301 with the zebra stripe and green backing. I have carried it for about 4 or 5 years and
used it tons in the oilfield from prying, screwdriver to a punch and cutting all kinds of material. I have beaten the shit out of
it and still comes back for more.

I have my eye on one for a while and finally am getting one this weekend.

I love all my Emersons. I am a bit partial to the CQC-7 but the Commander is a nice knife. The older Emersons are a tiny bit better in quality than the new ones but either will wholeheartedly take the abuse without issue.

I have carried my current CQC-7 for 6+ years now and have beat it to near death - and it still works just as good as the day I got it. It needs to be sharpened but that's about it.

If your going to beat up your knife I recommend a tanto style blade (again why I like the CQC-7) - but the Commander's belly is big enough that you have some 'meat' there.

Once you go with the 'wave' feature you will never own a knife without it. Its just so damn useful (opens bottle tops too).
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

Have a Mini Commander and love it. Fits in my hand and pocket better than a full size. SHARP! and stays that way.

    I appreciate the replys.

Well the wonderfully awesome Emerson Commander showed up in the mail today
from a CO-AR15 member I traded with. I was like a little kid at Xmas time
and couldn't wait for the mailman to show up.

He said he just got it back from Emerson for free sharpening and it is rather sharp.
Im not used to the way they sharpen it but seems well made and strang as hell.
A lot lighter then my ZT but then again my ZT is a tank and the Emerson seems more
    like a fighter jet!!!

I took it apart and cleaned and relubricated the pivot points, like I do with all my knives, and
also gives me a good idea of the craftsmenship that went into making this wonderful tool

Without further adew, here are the pics of my EDC items.

I have tried to like tanto style knives, wether folders or fixed and I just can not
like them. I have owned a Cold Steel tanto and then another no name
that I used in the Navy and although it held up well, I just didnt feel it
wasuseful to me like a regular or traditional styled blade.

I've got a Mini Commander as well and I LOVE IT. I wanted to get a Commander but I wanted to get an EDC knife. Since Colorado knife laws are actually incredibly restrictive (God knows why...) I opted for the Mini since it's just under the 3.5" limit.

Sharp as hell, tough as hell and I really can't get over how much I love the Emerson opener. It kicks ass to be able to draw and deploy simultaneously

The Emerson's are great knives, I have several, including the Commander and Super Commander. My EDC knives are Spydercos with full serrated blades. Wicked and not expensive.

Where's the best (cheapest) place to buy an Emerson?

My suggestion would be eBay. I got my mini commander on there for $140 brand new w/free shipping. The only thing is on eBay make sure you're buying a legit Emerson. Since its a higher end knife there are knockoffs. But a quick google search will help you decide if the knife you're looking for is legit. But you can't really beat eBay's prices IMO.
