Dow reduced elk tags because the population is about where they want it.
I could see them possibly issuing more deer tags along the foot hills for mule deer because they may be pushed into more populated areas but getting permission will be the hard part.

I think more hunters have moved in the state, the people who couldn't afford to hunt before got preference points and now cashed them in, and more people are realizing the healthy meat hunting provides along with reduced cost due to food prices skyrocketing.

Another factor could be the combining of DOW and the parks. Horrible move IMO
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

    My Feedback

I hope that they throw out some extra deer tags, I would love to get a young buck.

CPW was a bad move and all the DOW officers I know hate what is going on. If their job was not enough of a politically saturated bureaucracy before...

I lucked out; my cube mate here at work has an uncle with a 17,000 acre ranch just NE of Cheyenne. I and four buddies picked up antelope doe tags yesterday fairly easily, and there will only be two other groups besides us hunting the property.

I got the same story that you have regarding family land in Colorado and no tags from a young gentleman at Sportsman's Warehouse, and that's what aimed me at Wyoming. This is my first year hunting in 40 years, and I missed this years draw application here in state, so shooting a couple of does a couple of hours away seems like a good way to get back into it. I want to try hunting upland and waterfowl, too. And shoot some coyotes and prairie dogs, should the opportunity present itself.

Should be able to kill a couple goats without too much effort around Cheyenne. 17000 acres is a lot of land to look at. If you don't kill em, scare them north and we will see what we can do.

I've tried for three years to draw tags for the area I live in and I can't so I have to get tags for an area that's 6 hours from where I live. Go figure!
