Default Bushmaster worth putting money into?

    Noob question here...

I have a 16" Bushmaster Flat top with a standard fore end. I'd like to figure out how to add a vertical fore grip and a flashlight mount, and maybe a decent trigger.

I'm trying to figure out if putting money into this gun is like putting wheels and tires on a Yugo. Should I first trade up to something better before I start putting money into it?

    those are standard 'add-on's.

you can drop in a new trigger group

you can add a vert grip and flashlight mount to your existing hand guards, but they won't be very rugged.

you could get a free float guard.

lots of options. just have to look on line and in catalogs to find what YOU like.

Unless there is some problem with your rifle, you don't need to trade or sell it for anything else.

What are you going to upgrade too?

Seriously there is nothing wrong with Bushmaster. Dont believe everything you read on the internet. Some people just hate certain brands and most of them have never owned one.

Bushmaster is a great gun the only thing you will accomplish if you upgrade to say a COLT is you will pay extra $$ for a name.

I have two colts and a bushy I sure can't tell the difference other than price. My bushmaster is FA and has taken ten times the pounding my colts have and it has never given me a problem.

As far as adding accessories get a free float rail system as 7idl said do not add a rail to your existing hand gaurds. I did this on my bushy and it sucks. I personally am probably going to get a LaRue they make some of the best in my opinion.

Come to a shoot and you will get to see and shoot many different configurations. You can then decide what you want to do.

Bushmaster is one of the better manufacturers. I don't know why someone would tell you otherwise.

Actually, no one has said otherwise. I wondered because there are a number or significantly more expensive AR's out there, specifically Wilson and Les Baer.

I shall proceed to add toys to the Bushy immediately!

Wilson, need I say more than this. These people charge 1250 dollars for a Remington 870 shotgun
