My two thoughts to add on this. First, it appears to be a perfect example of the liberal approach to everything paraphrased as "rely on government for everything, including your own personal protection". We're conditioning a nation of sheep who won't take personal action to protect themselves. I just listened to the news interviewing a number of the students. They all hid behind their desks for "it went on for over a minute and a half" listening to the shooter shooting before moving to another classroom. Nobody thought to throw a desk or chair at the gunman in self defense. As somebody else pointed out, nobody ran, they didn't charge the gunman - they all hit the ground and waited to be shot.

Second thought, the news clearly was setting up the renewal of the AWB. On NBC they showed a little vignette that showed a pistol, ejected the magazine and said the previous AWB restricted magazines carrying over 10 rounds but now a "larger caliber, 9mm" can hold up to 19. Of course this after already making the point that the shooter reloaded several times and was carrying spare magazine in "something". Look for belts and vests capable of hiding spare magazines to be banned next.
