I've been a bit interested in this as well. I was a member at Ben lomond for a few years but could never make it out there much. Now I have more free time and am debating which to go with. Anyone know if I join the crc how Lon it'll take to be approved and ready to go shooting?

Both have their pros and cons. I belong to CRC and run several of the matches out there. The improvements and investment into infrastructure and targets has been pretty amazing. Does the BOD have some internal squabbles...yes, but it has NOTHING to do with the disciplines.

The East ranges have 6 shade covers, a large awards awning and is getting a 100 and 200 yard berm added this year. With the multiple ranges, I have always been able to shoot pretty much on my own during the week. There is steel on the Silhouette range for general use. The .22 RF benches are nice if you want to shoot with plugs and not be next to a boomer.

RV pads...drag the camper out and a stay a few days.

    Full-auto is not allowed.

Joining CRC is simple, no waiting list. Send in an app, you will get a call and go take the tour and get your credentials. May be a few weeks.

    Any specific reason?

FYI, BLGC membership cap has been removed. BLGC is very NFA friendly but paperwork checks will become more prevalent. As membership grows, so must the RO staff and safety checks.

I haven't been to a chapter meeting in about 6 months, but I talked quite a bit with the club Pres George W. yesterday at the range and the membership cap has been lifted. He said the Franktown chapter took in all 28 on their waiting list at the last meeting.

The addition of 6 new competition only pistol berms was a major contributing factor to lifting the cap.

    BLGC?

Start by checking out the website. There are many updated pics of all the facilities on several of the info pages. http://www.blgc.org/about-us

Attend as a guest of an existing member
Attend a public event (see website calendar)
I think you can contact a club exec to schedule a visit. See the website for contact info.

I try to get out there once a week usually Thu or Fri. I would be happy to show a select few around. Guests must be escorted by the member at all times, so you're on my clock and under my control if shooting, but we're usually there all day. You can just look around and leave, or stay and shoot. If you do something unsafe, you'll be asked to leave and escorted out the entrance.

If needed, contact me via PM.

I've shot at both and been a BLGC member since 2005. As Mark Said, they both have advantages and disadvantages. They've all been listed out here.

The BLGC waiting list was bumped up by 200 due to the six new pistol berms recently built. If you are thinking about BLGC, better do it now.

Checking NFA paperwork at BLGC? Never seen it, nor do I suspect it will be a regular occurrence out there. I personally know all but one or two of the RO's and the CRO and President have been personal friends for over 7 years. Unless some policy has changed recently, RO simply don't run around and check people's paperwork.

There is some talk about trying to make a 1000 yd range at BLGC, but I'm not sure if it's going to happen. I unfortunately haven't been as active as I would like to have be in the clubs out there lately.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.

Last I'd heard about a 1000 range at BLGC was they'd done a study and the cost was estimated in the 7 figures, so that idea was shelved. But I love the place.

Brutal, you get out there once a week?!?! You suck! I'm lucky to get out there once every three months, usually longer than that.

I don't spread rumor. Our friend and CRO Dan M. stated this Friday when he shot an nfa item with us. RO's will be checking for NFA docs.
