I took my XCR to the IDPA match at CCCSC for the rifle side match. I've only put 200 rounds through it at the first range session which I reported on previously, and have never shot anything other than pistols at these kinds of contests so I was holding my breath.
The stage was set up with some steel for pistol, run to get your rifle and engage 9 targets with two shots each at varying ranges in between a number of no-shoots, then run to the other side and engage the Texas Star.
I didn't need to worry about the XCR, it performed flawlessly. Even thought it was my first attempt with a rifle I was able to hit reasonably well and even had a few targets with zero down.
I even lent it to another shooter that didn't have a rifle there and he also shot it without a hitch.
Final assessment, great rifle, love the ACOG, glad I bought it. I do need to back off on the gas adjustment now since it seems to be broken in - it's throwing the brass about 20-25 feet and the manual says to adjust so it's only throwing about 8-15 feet to reduce wear and tear.
I was a little handicapped because I was using prescription sunglasses and actually saw two chevrons through the scope, but I picked the top one and still scored well. For you eyeglass wearers out there, I needed to look through the middle of the glasses to see the reticle properly which would have meant holding my head too high for a good cheek weld on the stock. But it worked out okay. In prior practice and dry firing at home, I had always used my clear prescription glasses and had worked out how to hold my head for a good sight picture and cheek weld, but the sunglasses are semi-wrap around and the position needed was different. I do have a pair of shooting glasses with yellow lenses that have the far prescription in the left eye and the prescription needed for normal focus on pistol front sights in the right eye. I need to get out and see how they do with the XCR.
