    Default Bear tip/tricks? GMU 85

First time heading out for bear. Does anybody have any tips they'd like to share? I already have a place to hunt and a choice of .243, .270, .284, 30-06, & .300 savage. Looking for tips on strategy, how to preserve the hide, and maybe some recipes. Thanks guys.

I have hunted Area 85 a few times.

Look for the biggest patch of raspberries you can find.
Patience, I took a break in the middle of the afternoon for some cutthroat fishing,
only to return to the patch that had been rolled through and shat upon numerous times.
If only the fishing would have sucked.

Yup, you guys are off the Christmas list... My poor Bear brothers and sisters... lol

The only tip I have: Kill it cleanly and swiftly... Nothing like an angry Bear to wake you up in the morning/dusk.

Check with a taxidermist before you go so you have everything planned. Plans to preserve the hide and get the carcass out. Horses don't like to be around the smell.

I believe the recommended ways to preserve the hide are to salt it or freeze it. You have to take care of it fast if you plan to mount it. You may have to check but i believe there is a special salt you buy, non-idonized. Probably a good idea to have some with you in your vehicle.

I have seen a couple out and it seems random, I saw one shot at about 10:00 am so good luck.
