I see this thread getting talked about in another thread which was focused on moderation practices here. The following was posted in it by SA Friday, in regards to what happened in this thread.

So, a news group posts an outlandish claim based off of preliminary studies and the FDA. Then it was posted here as fact. The OP got called on it and got snippy in the thread and completely unacceptable in PMs. Then he got spiked like a volleyball. Tissue can be found on isle 11 at the local Wal-mart.
Some inaccuracies in that quote. I had no intentions of insinuating the information in the article in the link was "fact". I simply posted it to inform people that the topic was in the news, with the hopes that an intelligent conversation on the topic would ensue. I thought folks in this forum would have interest in the topic, seeing so many of us (myself included) store rice. Seemed a worthy story to at least explore a little deeper, to try to discover if there was anything in it worthy of concern.

That's why I was taken back a bit by the reaction to my starting the thread. By management complaining I shouldn't have done it. Say what? It just didn't jive with how my inquisitive mind works. Like myself, I thought others would at least be interested in looking into it, digging a little deeper, talking it over, deciding for themselves if any modifications to what they're doing was warranted, or not. I didn't intend the story in the link to be intended to represent a bottom line conclusion on the subject, but rather to simply serve as a spring board for initiating a discussion and further exploration.

What's funny here, is the very idea of prepping is an activity that most folks consider a result of someone falling victim to "chicken little" fear mongering. They live with their heads in the sand, because they don't want to deal with the reality or implications of the possibility that their cushy existence might somehow get severely disrupted. It's just more than they want to mentally deal with. I expected more from this group. At the very least, some curiosity and intelligent discussion about this topic.. Not, "we shouldn't even discuss this". I was blown away by that, and truth be told, quite disappointed.

The other inaccuracy in the quote above was the depiction of the private conversation I had afterwards with management via PM. The rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated. Over several PM's they presented their perspective on the conflict, and I presented mine. We did not achieve a meeting of the minds, and I signed off saying I might lurk but would not be posting much anymore because I did not like the way moderation was conducted. I was told my account would be active and there waiting for me, if I changed my mind. I doubt I will. This has left a bad taste in my mouth. Adding to that bitter taste is the above quoted public discussion of private PM's between a myself and management that I found in another thread. I own and run an internet discussion forum myself, and that is a major no-no.

So anyway, this is likely my last post on this forum. It's been fun chatting with many of you guys. God bless us on November 6th, and perhaps I'll see you sometime in the woods or at the range.
