    Default Kerosene shelf life

Tried searching to see if this has been discussed here and didn't come accross anything...

I'm looking to pick up a smaller (23K BTU) kerosene heater and trying to discern the true storage life of Kerosene on the internet is near impossible. Some sites/personal experiences say the shelf life is 20+ years and others including some manufactures say 1-2 years at best. I would likely be storing it in the designated blue containers and in a relatively climate controlled area out of sunlight (most likely the garage). Thoughts/recommendations? Thanks...

I have had a few containers for my tower heater in bad winters for a few years at a time and have had no problems. I know there's Stabil for gas but I don't know if it's for kerosene as well.
