    Default Mt Herman

    So, I saw this:
    http://www.koaa.com/news/shooting-ar...n-road-closed/

    Then read this:
    http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_...rdb5380298.pdf

which links to this map: http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_...rdb5378471.pdf

It looks like there are still areas to shoot up there of some of the dirt roads...

    Thoughts?

Was just up there this weekend. Just so you you know, you can shoot anywhere in NF just makes sure you follow the rules! So there are "LOTS" and lots of areas to still shoot...

Last time I was up there it was pretty trashed...

Every time I go up I bring trash bags and haul as much crap down with me as I can.

I was just up there a few weeks ago and it was open (as far as I can tell anyway?) I think what they closed was the area real close to the hiking trails. If you go up beyond that you should be good to go.

I will say I am disgusted at the amount of trash left laying around. If that keeps up they will close it all down for sure. Please pick up all your targets and spent brass!

I took my dad up there this weekend as they live off mt Herman road in Shilo Pines and he had never been shooting, only hiking. He had a great time with me and I introduced him to shooting clays (biodegradable) but he was pretty surprised to see how much junk had been left behind. I collected brass and trash with him. He said he will be going up more often to clean up so that we have a place to shoot when I come down. Hopefully others that shoot up there will follow suit.
