Default Fort Carson Range 1 - Shooters Wanted

I went out to Fort Carson's Range 1 last weekend for their monthly shooting day and had a great time. They have nice covered benches and steel out to 500 yds and it's completely free of charge.

I'm Army and have a range safety card for the post so I can sign for this range so long as I have a second DoD ID cardholder with me.

If you're a DoD ID cardholder (active, reserve, guard, retired, even dependent) and would like to come shooting with me some upcoming weekend, please send me a PM. It's a great opportunity to shoot out to 500 at no cost, with none of the typical public range mandated hot/cold interval. We'll shoot until we're ready to check our targets and then we'll go cold for only as long as we need to.

It's going to get busy real soon there on the weekends. The rifle hunters always wait until October to sight-in.

Shoot me a PM next time you want to go to Range 1. My wife isn't a big fan of sitting in the truck and watching me shoot!

Also, there is a post requirement to have all privately owned weapons registered on post prior to bringing them to the range.

I'm not really worried. We'll PCS before the MPs come to take my guns. ;-)

Used to go before the registration. The one thing you can count on is that red flag is like a beacon. Open the range and every tom/dick and harry will show up.

Then you tell them it is time to close and they get pissy about it. Just some thoughts from one that has worked there for 20+ years. The public range is suppose to open next month I believe as well.
I see you running, tell me what your running from

Nobody's coming, what ya do that was so wrong.

Registering your weapons killed it for me.

If you hear more, keep us in the loop. I have a few coworkers who are looking forward to checking it out.

If the public range is going to open in Oct, they have a LOT of work to do!
