    www.ShotGunNews.com has an FFL finder.
20-25 seems to be the average.
40-50$ does seems high, but people are charging it.
Also ask if they charge tax. Some places charge you sale tax on the original cost of the item. I would love to see their tax records to determine if any of that money goes to the State. I asked specifically and don't need to charge sales tax since I am not making a sale.
Also some places charge the transfer fee based upon the retail value of the weapon, 10% is common.
Last thing to look at is, do they charge per multiple weapons or is it a flat fee.

To bad you're not farther south. The guy I use in Centennial only charges $10.00 and is a great guy. Bill Stark

Last time I did an FFL transfer (Alpha Pawn, S. Broadway in Denver, $20) they charged me sales tax on my original purchase price I paid to the out of state vendor.

Is this correct? Seems to be conflicting info...

I'm looking at some more expensive items to FFL transfer and would like to avoid sales tax if possible.

I don't think they are supposed to charge you any tax for receiving a firearm. They are providing a service not selling an article (which you bought from out-of-state and had paid for already).

Not sure if Paul is still in business.

    Update.

Gunsport Colorado does not do FFL transfers anymore. The owner said they were loosing too many sales to the internet and wasn't making any money on doing transfers.

I don't think Paulsfirearms.com is in business anymore. There is no response from his email or phone. Too bad, he was a good guy to deal with.

FFLs are getting scarce in Boulder. Does anyone know of a local FFL in the Boulder area?

Don't know about Boulder, but I have used Panamadave in Westminster and it went very well ($20).

+1 for PanamaDave. Although I have never had a chance to do business with him I have heard many good things about him. Also there is a biz called Hole in the Wall in Brighton where they will do transfer for $15

    Default Colorado Springs?

Along the same lines -- any good ones in Colorado Springs?

Alan is great, but the drive isn't very convenient.

I've used Specialty Sports. I think it was $35 last time. They seemed very put-out though.
