I have 3-9X40 on one of my rifles zerod at 50 yards, it's a nikon with BDC designed for .22LR if you can handle the kinda crowded reticle it's nice to have references of different distances in your scope.

Not a USO. It is a S&B 5-25. I have it zeroed at 50, but have come up data every 10 yards out to 125 and every 5 yards out to 200.

Below is 60 shots inside 3/8 on a International Smallbore Target at 50 meters. All but 8 were inside 1/4.

If you really get fanatic about the .22 lr you might wanna take look at this site. A lot of 10/22 info as well as guys putting ridiculous size scopes on their rifles, at least thats my opinion. I think a 3-9X40 is plenty of magnification for the average person then it just depends on what you're willing to spend but what ever makes you happy run with it.

My friend has two leopold mark4 16x/40mm I believe and we were shooting out to 430yrds with no real problem when the wind died down. He had 20 moa of gain added to the rail. So as much as you want to go I think. .22 round is easy and cheap to learn about drop and wind changes out at distance A lot better than over a $1 a pull with .308 and other cal in my opinion.

and even a 2.5-8x Nikon EER optic on this little Mk III Ruger--

Finally got my CZ-452 Varmint with a Vortex Crossfire II 6-18x out to the range this weekend. I was shooting it in between shots of the .308 handloads. Best group at 100 yards was a four shot group (first shot was a sighter) that had three touching and the fourth at 5/16 from center mass. The wind picked up after that, so I didn't waste anymore scarce ammo. I was shooting Federal Automatch, and the way they shoot I won't need to break out the Wolf Match at all.

That is indeed a good group with a .22.
