    Default Camp food

Looking for some easy elk camp meals. I usually archery hunt and eat mountain house and the like but some buddies talked me into 2nd season. We will be car camping so weight isn't an issue.

Sine we will likely be out until dark I'm looking for something to cook at home and freeze. Something that I can reheat and feed 4. Kind of steering away from chile or stew, might do ham and beans but not sure.

    Thanks in advance.

We used to just vac seal and freeze meals and warm up in boiling water. No limit to what you can make that way. Menu is open to whatever you and your pals like.

I made Chicken Tortilla Soup and Jambalaya. Froze them both and just heated them up at camp. Worked great. I also make and freeze breakfast burritos so we don't have to cook early in the morning.

This.... And the frozen items help keep things in the cooler cool.

When I car camp, as I'm leaving town en route to the mountains, I'll stop by the grocery store... I will frequently pick up a per-marinated/vacuum packed pork loin, chicken breasts, or the like. Along with a few cans of veggies and drinks/snacks, I'm all set for a few days. The meat can go directly on a grill (I have a grate I just lay over the fire as a grill), in a dutch oven, in tin foil tossed in the coals, etc... there's pretty much nothing to cooking it. For the veggies, just pop the can a little bit, and stick the can on the grill too, or to the side of the coals. I don't see how it can be any easier than that...

Now if i had time and effort to prepare at home, I could just make something and zi plock it, like others have said, but the effort at camp would be the same, so the sky's the limit on the menu.

Best and Easiest to make on BBQ.

Sausage also good, we cook freeze items such as shredded meat for burritos, fajitas works good. Sirloin tips, almost anything you desire.
