    Default AR 10 .. ????

    Looking for advice for a new gun..Am thinking about the AR 10 in .308...any opinions, or advice?

    Have you looked into the .338 Federal? If I was going to hunt elk it would probably be my first choice. Not that you couldn't take an elk with the .308.

    Its going to be a lighter AR-10 if you plan on lugging it around the hills looking for elk. They get pricey in a hurry.

    I would lean towards a Remington R-25.

    Or DPMS. Both start at $1100-1200 range. Check out our trading post section... last dpms sold was $1000.

    Dpms and the remington are the same gun. Unless the camo is a must (in your opinion) I'd go with the dpms. From what I've read the camo wears easily on the remingtons

    And yes, go lightweight. I have the LR308, sold my slickside upper with the 16" or 18" bbl to buy the A3 with the 24" stainless barrel, it is HEAVY. Not looking forward to lugging it around the hills.
