    Default Rechroming Willys Bumpers

Other than Denver Bumper or their warehouse site in the Springs, who out there rechromes bumpers? Powder coating won't work for my bumpers, not shinny enough. I've checked with Denver Bumper and their prices are very high for my Willys. Just wanted to check the hive mind and see if anyone had a lead on a place in Colorado I could take them too. I'd be open to shipping them off, but it would be $$$ for shipping.

    Thanks for any info guys,
    Kyle

Good luck EPA regs have just about run all of them out of business. Ajax was a great place to get it done but they are gone as far as I know.

the correct way to chrome is to copper plate it, then nikle plate it then chrome. You will have a hard time finding anybody that will do that any more.

Denver Bumber will give a shit chrome job that will last about as long as the season. It will flake, peel and go to hell in a heart beat. If you don't like their price I can tell you that you sure would not like the price of somebody that would do it right.

From talking to DB, they want about $1200 to do the front & rear bumper on the Willys. That's not cheap in my book. I've read triple plating is the way to go, just have to find a place that'll do it without having to take out a second on the house

What are these bumpers off of? A Willys what? There are places out there that might have n.o.s. ones, or quality repros, depends on what you need. I can pass along some websites if you need them, but I need to know what kind of vehicle.

    RonDog,
It's a 1950 & 1/2 (or 51) Willys Overland Station Wagon (Model 473 2WD w/OD & a planar front suspension). Rear bumper is a full wrap around (3 piece). Front bumper has the extra bar on top and bumper guards on each end (6 pieces)
I'd love some links, I have many-many now, but more is better
Tom, thanks for the #, I'll be calling Ajax soon.

I have lots o'parts being powder coated now and some just being sandblasted. I'll be taking the seats in next week for new coverings.

    Thanks,
    Kyle

Oh well, no more chrome plating for Ajax on bumpers (I just called).
I'm going to go get a Hemmings (sp??) mag and look through it as well.
    The hunt is still on.....

I don't suppose a can or three of silver Krylon would suffice?
