    Default Cougar

Has anyone hunted Cougar? (The cat type...not the human female type!)

One seems to have decided to take up residence on my north 40 and if I can't get rid of it any other way, I'll shoot it. (Legally, I have a couple of ways to do that.) So if it comes to it, I'd like to know if anyone has hunted them and how.

I went looking for sign today and found a kill (grown deer) in a little wooded glen about in the middle of the north 40. It had been picked clean, but it wasn't all that old. Of all the critters that could take up residence on my land, this is the one I'm least happy about. Too many instances of cougars thinking they're further up the food chain than we are, and I don't want it deciding that my kids or dogs look appetizing.

Find someone with hounds and tree him, then pop him. Or set up a trap..

I'll come shoot it once the season opens up: Nov 19 through March 31. I have decided I need to hunt and kill a mountain lion to give me inner peace.

Cats have a very large area to roam. You may be on the edge of it, or you might be right in the middle of it now.
How big was the cat, weight wise?

Dogs are the most preferred method to finding a cat. But if you are seeing it on a constant basis and have an idea of where it is at during the day it wouldn't be terribly hard to kill.

Animals are your greatest risk, then your kids. Cats typically hunt in the night, but when opportunity or hunger rises, you just never know.
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

One was hunting me a few weeks ago!! Out side the gate at 10 feet or so. Eye's just looking through me. 125lbs or so. But just sat there.
