Went on my first elk hunt, 2nd season (over the counter bull) No luck but had fun. Is it true you can get a leftover cow tag and go for a second hunt?

Yes.
2 licenses typically allowed. 1 from group A and 1 from group B or 2 from B. C Licenses also available but very limited in areas.
Check the regulations and the leftover list online for details and choices.
I have 2 tags most years and do again this year. I had 3 only one time, but only got two elk that year. Check and understand the regs before you buy a 2nd to be sure.
Slowly learning how to read them. A few units have left over either sex tags. Can I assume, even though I had a bull tag already, I can still take either sex?
I really appreciate the responses helping a newb along.
Thanks
You cannot make that assumption. You can only get another tag if that tag is a B or C list. on the last column it will tell you if it is B or C.
++ is list B
## is list C
I do not see any either sex tags that are B list.
However, there are several B list options for a cow

Thanks, learning a little more. Looks like it's a cow for me
Any luck getting a cow tag?
Jslo,
Call the DOW I don't think you can get an either sex. I think you can only get a cow tag.
