I have split pea, navy bean, chicken tortilla, and jambalaya all sitting on the shelf now. Congrats Nick on getting started with canning. If you have any questions this forum is a great place to get info. I have only been canning for a few years now but I am hooked and can all kinds of stuff now.
RECIPES?!?!? PM me if you want :-)

+1 I'll take all I can get and save them.
Maybe we should have a canning recipe thread?

BTW what happens if you use a outdoor burner? Saw that warning and was wondering how it'd differ from a gas stove.

I am all for a canning recipe thread.

Basically it makes the aluminum which what the OP and me have for a pressure canner become malleable enough that the inside pressure makes it look like a round pot instead of a cylindrical pot like it comes.

It ends up screwing up the seal, the flat bottom(which becomes round), and all your stuff you are canning inside.

Now you have to buy a new $80 Canner :-( I wish I had pictures before I took it to the scrapyard (which gives you less per pound aluminum scrap than used cans) but I was too depressed at the time.
