Yes, they certainly did. They didn't go towards compensation for anyone's time, but they did:
1. Get us a new vBulletin license. We are now running vBulletin 4.2.3 instead of 3.7.1. We also got the option with the license to upgrade to vBulletin 5 when it comes out of beta status. Our old version was so outdated it prevented us from upgrading the server software as it would have made it incompatible with the old forum software.
2. Get us the server that the site is now running on. I have to turn on some caching settings still, so it will be even faster than it is now.
3. Get us a decent professional base theme to modify and improve and make the look you see today. It would have taken 10x as long without a good base starting point, and it was an easy call for $35.00.
