Ive heard the same nonsense about no wolves as well, but while hunting in unit 55 in 2000, we heard wolves at night, and one night in particular, one of the nimrods in camp put the campfire out with leftover beans. The footprints in the fresh snow around our tent were way too big for a coyote. Think really big canine prints. The idiots wouldn't leave the tent from there on out after dark, lol. In oklahoma, the game commission denied there were black bears, or cougars in the state, even after numerous sightings. They changed their tune when someone called the media after a bear, then a cougar both were hit by cars, different times and places. Turns out, they had been re-introducing them secretly. Nothing to say they aren't doing that here.

I travel the state quite a bit, and hunt quite a bit. Yes, we have Wolves, and yes we have Wolverines...so far I have not seen a Werewolf.

A female wolf tagged with a radio collar in Yellowstoen came into Colorado a few years back. I don't ever recall what happened with her. Up in Unit 2 and 3 I have seen wolves. Saw a black wolf in Unit 2 about 5 years ago. Watched it for about an hour before it finally took off. DOW Gray Wolf info page: http://wildlife.state.co.us/Wildlife.../GrayWolf.aspx

I thought I saw a Wolverine in 2008 due north of Steamboat almost to the WY border. I went and took a photo of the prints in the dirt and reported it to the DOW thinking it was an exotic someone had let go. The DOW told me they thought it could be a Wolverine and mine was not the only sighting. DOW has now confirmed multiple Wolverines in CO. http://wildlife.state.co.us/Wildlife...Wolverine.aspx

    Why shoot it at all????

Each wolf needs 13 elk to feed on each year.

That's why I would shoot it.

I could have sworn I saw a wolverine crossing the road one day while driving between Rifle and Meeker a couple of years ago.

Probably, that is the south edge of Unit 3, in which I have seen two now.

There was at least one with a radio collar that IIRC was hit on I70 in CC county. It was part of the reintroduction pack in the Yellowstone area. I've tried to search for info online with no luck.

If wolves are here and/or reintroduced they will go after livestock. That is why you consider shooting it. They will hunt in packs and decimate livestock that graze on public land. Private land for that matter. But on public land there is less monitoring of the herds.

Not to mention back country camping with children.

For any wolf lovers check the Elk stats in wolf country, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the elk herds are down about a third after the wolves. So no more elk hunting if the get to Colorado.

Since they don't exist must be a coyote on steroids, or a stray feral dog, but not a wolf and something legal to shoot at the time. (shoot, shovel)
