    Default Wolves in Colorado

Just talked to a buddy that swears he saw a wolf while in the Canon City area.

He has hunted coyotes, so I am prone to believe him.

Migrating from WY or released from an eco-terrorist?

Shoot it. The DOW says there are not wolves in Colorado. You can't get in trouble for shooting something that doesn't exist.

I would contact DOW before shooting the animal. Unless its harassing wildlife.

Unless it's harassing livestock, why shoot it at all, DOW or otherwise?

I swear I saw a wolf down near the Conejos river, about at the border of CO and NM. I was watching a herd of elk grazing, near dusk, when they suddenly turned and ran in to the trees, followed by a rather large animal. They were probably 3/400 yards off, but the predator chasing them was much too large to be a yote.

A local fishing guide said he thought there were Mexican wolves in the area, but I can't find any confirmed sightings.

Someone last year posted a photo on 14ers.com of a wolverine that they'd photographed here in CO, which theoretically don't exist here....but they had the photo, clear as day, and no reason to try and pull a hoax. Wyoming isn't all that far away in terms of wolves, and they have legs that can cover distance well.

Scroll down on this link to the video entitled "probable gray wolf sighting" -
