    Default "Combat" knife?

OK. This is going to sound a little weird. I have knives that are suitable for just about most purposes.... dressing game, cooking, general camp duty, cutting threads off my clothes, opening boxes, etc. But... looking at my knives I don't really see anything that would truly be suited for hand to hand combat. With the possible end of the world coming soon, the ever looming zombie apocalypse, and the recent re-election of Obama, it seems fitting that I should add something to my collection suitable for fighting.

    You know.... just in case.

So, anyone have any recommendations for me?

    Thanks.

Not too big, not too heavy, easy to handle quickly, and not a folder. The rest is preference IMO. Somebody with way more knowledge and wicked knife fighting experience will be along to give you theirs.

I only carry one knife; a CQC from Emerson and I've been very happy with it:

The waiting list is rediculous, but they make great knives.

I have some that fit that bill but I don't think they are fit for fighting due to the lack of a good guard (bolster?) to keep my hand from slipping up onto the blade if used in a stabbing motion.

I know almost nothing about knife fighting and I am sure there are a lot of good choices. But I've handled one of the first gen Temperance a few times and it is the most weaponized knife I've ever held.
    This is the Temperance 2:

Maybe it depends on what knife fighting style?
For a cheap stabbing type knife, the Glock knife isn't too bad. You can even sharpen the swedge...

For chopping zombies in half you could get something like the Becker Combat Bowie.

Cold steel has a lot of affordable knives theoretically designed for fighting, if you can get past their ridonkulous marketing.

Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to Fight, he'll just kill you.

^^^^ This. I love all my K-Bar knives, but I would choose my K-Bar Tanto knife. For a fighting blade.

Chris Reeves makes a pretty kewl knife for combat, but they are pricey as hell.

Yikes. That might be a bit more than I am willing to spend.
