freeze dried Meats

Couple of questions about freeze dried meats.

1) where is a good place (locally) that I can buy some? I wanna try some out.
2) is there a way to make your own?
3) any brand that I should stay away from?

SAMs Club carries a brand of freeze dried foods. Although as far as sampling, you would need to purchase a "30" day pail of meals.
As for just "meats", the smallest order I have found online is 2 - #10 cans. According to the manufacturer, 1 - # 10 can is 23 servings after reconstitution.
All you need to make your own is a large enough vacuum vessel that can be chilled to sub zero temperatures.
