-anyone know how about far out a .22LR subsonic 40gr bullet (1050fps at muzzle) might start to tumble or keyhole into a target? Or has anyone actually seen it occur? (vs guessing).

Having fun with the long shots eh? Sounds nicer than freezing my butt off up northbig targets out past the 420 until its not hitting anymore? I'm sure on a week day that might be possible. Making trips back and forth.
Hmmm.......must move target further, things are still very stable at 425y.
What kind of distance's?
That, is my curiosity. I know a subsonic 40gr .22LR will punch through a 3/4" piece of plywood at 425 yards with perfectly round entry holes, I'm curious as to what distance they start tumbling and would keyhold into paper (not a clean round entry hole). I'll push some out to 550 yards next week and see how they do.
@550 with a 22lr isn't that more of a mortar shot
Punching though @ 425, what temp was the original shots taken?
Sorry I originally read the op wrong and thought you were having a ammo issue (looong day@.gov).
I always thought keyhole rounds are from unstable rounds right from the barrel.
Who are you to want to escape a thugs bullet? That is only a personal prejudice, ( Atlas Shrugged)
