Default Finally my deer and antelope season start Saturday!!

After hearing all the stories and spending most of everyone's seasons guiding my late deer and late antelope season run concurrently the 1st week of December!

I expect deer to take under and hour from the time I leave my house. Antelope will be taken on my way to the butcher.

I hope to be done and drinking beer with the butcher by noon!... come on Saturday!

I'll be hunting Deer in 104 and Antelope in 110

My butcher and friend is Randy Kershal owner and butcher from Randy's Custom Processing.
He is located between Peyton and Calhan on Ellicott Highway to the north of Highway 24.
He is state inspected and does trucks of game for SCI (Safari Club International). They also do domestic meat.

I know a few more butcher/processor in the area and if you PM me I will explain why I always chose only Randy.

Have fun! I missed my chance for antelope this year. We didn't put in for the draw because there were over 500 tags left over last year. This year, zero!

(no pic- everybody knows what a doe deer looks like)
So I started with deer Dec. 1, Saturday morning. Saw about two dozen white tail but passed on them for a big muley doe. Found some around 3pm... tried to close the distance for a shot and they vaporized.
Sunday, went out to the same spot at sunrise and the deer were still in the area and were not scared of us in the least. From driving in to packing the deer out field dressed... total time 20 minutes.
Deer was done.. time for antelope.

Looked all day Sunday Dec 2, afternoons on Dec 3,4,5 and 6th. Not any to be found on a total of about 80-100,000 acres. These are same properties I guide during regular season and we had already taken about 25 antelope during regular season. Total antelope population on property during regular season was about 1000 animals.

Friday Dec 7th I was heading to pick up my son after school and spotted about 30 antelope. Put the stalk on them and was able to close the distance to about 700 yards. No Bueno. I don't shoot unless I can guarantee a 100% kill shot.

Saturday Dec 8th Different property spotted 12 and they started to run off when we closed to about 1/2 mile.

That was it!! Somehow about 1000 antelope disappeared. I think the DOW did a great job in their heard reduction with the late season tags killing off all the pregnant does. No more to hunt late season.
I won't be spending any more money on late season antelope again in GMU 110,111,113,114,123,124

I did count almost 5000 antelope in last week on large private ranches that don't allow any type of hunting. I wouldn't be surprised if the DOW goes on to these ranches to cull these private herds.
I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.
