    Default Stones

My two sided stones are 30+ years old. They work fine but looking to upgrade.

Japanese water stones, which one?. Norton 4000-8000 or King 1000- 6000? Read reviews but which one?

Been bouncing this around for a while. I don't hone straight razors but like 'em SHARP. the King seems to be enough but do I really want more?

Me personaly I would get the King, with my luck I would screw up the Norton and render it to just a rock and not a sharpening stone.(plus I might slice my thumb off)

But if you realy want to be able to put an edge on it get the Norton, even if you make just a few passes it should be good.

I have my straight razors done on a Norton. Can't complain one bit. If you want sharp I would go with the Norton. Sometimes you can find awesome stones at antique stores with the straight razor stuff.

I'm leaning toward the King stone. The Nortons are nice but require more maintenance and is probably overkill for knives, chisels and plane blades.
