30 Carbine @ Big 5

The Big 5 closest to my home (Constitution and Powers) is now selling 30 Carbines for $999.

I saw that and had to re-read it.
I remember in 1985 seeing them for $150!

At first I thought they meant M1A's...then I saw the carbine thing.

I think if you like that style the Ruger Mini series would be money better spent.

On a side note:
My buddy worked at the Air Force Academy and in the earily '90's they were going through crates of these carbines to find good ones for the drill team. They were new never issued guns in cosmoline. They would only get one or 2 per case without cracks in the stock from being in storage too long. The ones that were not used were sent to the incenerator to be destroyed. They burnt about 300 of them!
