    Default Taurus 1911

Anybody got one or shot them or anything? My dealer has a smokin deal on a new one, and I don't know much about them. I have read a ton about them in the magazines and on the net, but reading about them and what they do could be 2 different things.

They supposedly have 2100 of total "gunsmith" work done to them from the factory and cost about $600 or so.

The one I looked at look very nice and had aftermarket wood grips, but I want to know how they shoot vs. what the company tells me has been done to it. the one I am looking at is brand new so I can't shoot unless I buy.
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

    My Feedback

The last Taurus anything I looked at was a little 22LR snubbie (think J frame Smith copy)

the trigger pull was so bad that it took two hands to do it.
    Literally
probably 40 or 50lbs of pressure.

No, I think I'll continue to pass on Taurus

they are not a bad deal, the trigger is not the greatest, and the hammer has a hidious allen head lock on it that looks like a wart, I tried the one my buddy has, I would replace the hammer for sure, and the trigger would not be far behind. but they retail for around $500.00 buds has them for $505.00 shipped, after the transfer fee, and a new hammer you would have a well rounded 1911 imho, and later on pick up a trigger. youll still be in for less than $600.00, not to many 1911 owners can say they have that little in theirs, including myself.

Taurus is a good value manufacturer of pistols. Their 1911 is not a top end 1911 but is better than any other I've seen in its price range.

I'd like to hear more about this, I have had My Tauras .454 for about 10 years now, and have never had a problem with it. Plus I have have had My 617 for about a year and a half, same story.

Lets be clear I have had to return S&W's Marlins Stags to mention a few. Every one makes mistakes and quality control for all has been weak.
Justin I handle a butt load of guns weekly and the 1911 is a good Taurus is a good gun I would carry it. If you want cheap go with the SA WWII and pimp it out, but the Taurus is a better deal made where SA makes their 1911's

I see a lot of 1911s come and go at various matches that I compete in. Over the course of a few months, the average IPSC/IDPA shooter shoots more ammo than the average Joe will in a few years.

Some brands dont hold up well. Taurus is one of them.
