they are not Stamped Receivers. what the stamped vs. milled refers to is the trigger group.
all Russian have a milled trigger group. the Chi-Com's came with either a milled (one piece trigger housing) or stamped. the stamped trigger group's trigger guard, instead of being part of the housing is actually tack/spot welded to the housing.
ALL the receivers on SKS's are milled/forged/cast not stamped.
Russian bbls are all threaded into the receiver. Chi-Com have both threaded & pinned (pressed) in bbls. If you are concerned about a Pinned SKS bbl, sell your AK. those bbls are pinned too.
If you would like to know more about the SKS i have a few books on the subject. the best is a duncan long. I have them available for sale along with a few different FN books.

as for the "uncontrolled fire" that too is based upon a rifle that was
1) not cleaned correctly prior to firing. there were issues with small amounts of grease in the f/pin area that unless broke down, and cleaned, did not come out easily.

2) some Chi-Com f/pins were a tad longer then normal. a quick adjustment with a file resolved that issue.
with any of the AK's or SKS' you should never slam the bolt assy/ into battery with one in the chamber as it might just go off. Unless you are at the range.
the later com-block stuff did not present the issues the early guns did.
even some of the chi-com ammo was prone to high primers. combine the 2 and it's unintended rock & roll time.
the SKS that took AK mags. later paratrooper's with a block where the bayo lug mount use to be was notoriuos for this. slamfire-a-rama. few but still enough to shy away from them in the late 80's

I definitly agree with sniper tim, i bought the chinnese so that i could beat the hell out of it and shoot it without worry. I enjoy mine.

I've had both, several times over, but the Russians consistently are the better rifle. They are better made, and the biggest difference is in the accuracy. I've seen a couple Chinese that shot real well for an sks, but every russian I've seen or shot is accurate (for an sks).
But, more than that, it is the novelty behind it for me, too. It's like you can buy/own a dewalt or a chicago from harbour freight. The difference in price is pretty drastic, but they are the same tool-the chinese are wll known for having the plans from the companies for eveything from nike tennis shoes to golf clubs to rifles. But the russian sks is the real deal, where it originated, etc.

Nawww.....The Russian flat out smokes the yugo on accuracy and build. The yugos don't even come close, lol. And I personally think the Russians look way cooler. The big advantage to the yugo is the gas shut off. Makes the gun worth it by itself, IMO.
Either way, your can't beat an sks. They're just plain fun and cool. Except for my Mosin........!!!!

I own both the Russian and a Norinco Sporter. The Russian is not a disappointment in accuracy. It does have the advantage over the Sporter simply by barrel length. The Russian disassembles and reassembles nicer than the Norinco as well. The trigger is a bt smoother on my Norinco though. Go figure. I have thought about sending both out for trigger group mods and adjustments.
Either way, you will not be disappointed. Both guns will offer lots of great service and shooting.

I've had Chinese, yugo, Russian, bulgy, and a weird middle eastern SKS ... maybe turk?

Anyway, the only one I've kept and will never sell is my 54 Tula ... the Russians built the finest sks. No comparison in fit and function. Mine has that georgeous Siberian birch wood, kind of tiger striped.

If you just want a great shooter get a yugo.
