Default Suppressed 10/22 22 WMR build

    Hi guys,

I am motivated to build this based on 22 WMR general availability through this mess - thinking it might actually make a better SHTF rifle than a 22LR 10/22. Here are the general parameters:

Barrel - either integrally suppressed or a threaded barrel. Prefer whichever is easier to maintain/clean. I really like the idea behind this 10/22 SB-X barrel from Tacsol, but san't see if it will work with 22 WMR, or not? http://www.tacticalsol.com/tshome/ca...arrel-upgrades

Stock - Like the Hogue overmolded stock, and would probably build around that

Receiver - prefer a flat top design with rail on top, instead of scope rings

Suppressor - cost less of an issue than dB suppression and ease of maintenance

Any idea on who makes these items (aside from the stock)? Also, any other parts I should consider for 22 WMR? (trigger, bolt, etc)

    Thnx,
    Singlestack

Volquartsen makes barrels in 22wmr, think green mountain does as well. Revolution makes stocks as well the the houge you mentioned for the 10/22 magnum. As far as the trigger group any 10/22 will work.

Recievers, best bet is select fire (http://www.ruger1022receiver.com/). mine still isn't quite right (haven't worked on it in months though) but plenty of people at rimfirecentral.com have gotten them running just plan on it to have issues and doing plenty of tweaking. Also don't leave the magazines in the rifle when test firing, I destroyed 2 this way. Biggest issue is getting weight and spring length to the point where the brass doesn't bulge and out the back and have the extractor rip it open.

If sound suppression is so important, you'll want to get rid of the bolt slap. Look into a PWS T3 Summit action. Still makes noise, but when you want it to make noise. Plus it has an integral rail (20MOA). I do not have first hand experience with this action, but it's on my list.

In the video they're using a Silencerco Sparrow. Very nice suppressor that's easy to maintain. The Sparrow I do have first hand experience with.

YOU are the first responder. Police, fire and medical are SECOND responders.

Though you can't suppress the supersonic crack, the silencer does conceal the source of the shot (hence why suppressing the bolt noise is important) . The supersonic crack makes it appear as if the sound source is perpendicular to the flight of the bullet.

But at this point we're getting into Mall Ninja stuff

Magnum research receiver, a dedicated / factory / vendor 10/22WMR barrel . For a suppressor i use either my Thunder beast 22Ti can or a Gemtech HALO unit. The 22mag is finicky to say the least in a semi-auto. Throwing a suppressor / back pressure in to the mix could complicate the issue even more.

My buddy John has a pair of Tactical Innovations 22wmr "rugers" (with no Ruger parts in them hahaha) and they run pretty good.
