Never believe any reloading data you get from the web, use at your own risk, blah, blah, blah...

4.6gr of 231 behind a Colorado Cast 255gr SWC sized .452 with an OAL of 1.182"*

It saunters out of the barrel at a leisurely 800 fps. After your last shot be sure to wait long enough before you walk downrange to assure you don't catch one in the back.

Not all 1911s will digest this round - it's a .45LC bullet complete with crimping groove (which you don't use, of course) which makes it very, very blunt and short.

The broad, flat nose and SWC shoulder of the bullet bites into the pin better than a round nose, giving you slightly better performance on less-than-perfect shots and the bullet's mass carries pins off the table with authority.

I used to do a lot of pin shooting back in the late 80s, early 90s. Haven't done any since then because all the matches disappeared. So when I heard about Bristlecone, I signed up immediately, found that I had an unopened box of Paul's bullets that were at least 20 years old and started cranking them out.

Finished chamber checking them all last night.

I haven't shot a bowling pin match since the 90s and haven't practiced since then, but the older I get, the better I used to be so I'm sure I'll dominate the match (cough, cough).

    O2

*1.182" in theory. My Dillon seat die doesn't appear to like the big, flat nose of the bullet and the rounds are all over the place in terms of OAL. I can't use the SWC seat because the bullet's nose to to large to fit in its recess, so I have to flip it over and use the RN seat, which makes the seating depth extremely variable. I'll have to call Dillon and see if they have a .45LC bullet seat insert that might fit this bullet.

If anyone is at the match tonight, look for this shirt and say hi!

Disassembled the reload room today. Basement flooded, had to tear out the laminate flooring. It'll get put back as soon as the water stops.

Taught a friend to load for precision. Oddly, he started with a progressive. Unsurprisingly, he doesn't know much yet

I loaded about 250 rounds of 300blk subs. Then I was abducted by an alien and forced to load another 500+ rounds of 9mm in his mother ship. Both required some press/powder adjustment and I was flat wore out when done.

Was as all the probing really necessary though?

    Still funny as heck, though!

BTW, my reloading day was spent cranking out 12ga. Decided it was time to get into my #8 shot stash.
