I use a homemade lanolin lube on my pistol cases even with carbide dies. I feel that the sizing stage is a lot smoother and that helps in my powder drop consistency. No jarring or bumping to remove the sized case. I use a Dillon 550 and lube makes the entire process smoother. I tumble the completed rounds in corn cob media for 30-40min to remove the case lube. People say that’s too much work, but I enjoy the results.

While I had the die out, I cleaned it up and added a drop or two of synthetic motor oil. I don't think I noticed a difference for more than maybe 20-25 cases after that though, which is to be expected since I lubed the die, and not the individual cases.

I hid Christmas presents in my reloading room today. The wife has found a few around the house, but almost never ventures into my reloading room.

Mm, Giraud trimmers. Best single piece of gear in my shop.

While my son watched the second half of Die Hard I tested the Lee Auto Drum for the first time and loaded 80 rounds of 380 acp. Powder measured very consistently for me. I think I will order some of the spare drums so I can leave them set for the loadings I will do over and over.
