Ummmm....That's a bit on the high side of the Hornady reloading manual. They have a max of 6.6gr Unique for 230gr bullet, at 900 fps.

ETA: I've never used Unique, though my experience with reloading books is they tend to be somewhat conservative. YMMV

I think I started my load from this data that goes as high as 7.3 for a 230gn projectile. I'm going to try to bring it down a little based on these recent posts and see how they do.

6.6? i'l check the books i have. Seems a little high. I've loaded 5.6 of unique for a bolt action project.
Grabbed a few for a 1911 pistol to see what they did. hot, with a snappy recoil is what i experienced. But i'm also shooting weak handed for another week or so.

I started the load for an AR45 that I built. It needed a hot round to cycle. I've since been backing it down for other firearms. In my 1911 using 6.8gn is a little snappy as you mentioned. Never thought about backing it below 6 until now. With the current availability of supplies I want to use as little as I can, every little bit helps these days.

Now that i see it's for a 45 carbine. That makes sense. The hot loads i made are for a rhineland arms 45 acp / mauser conversion i did. They're also loaded as long as the mag allows.

5-5.2/4 grs unique with a 230 gr bullet works.

I finally put all of my 147 CMJ's (3000) from Montana Gold into brass sitting over 3.7 grains of Bullseye. Next up is the 1000 rounds of 115 Hornady HAP once I figure out what I want to throw them together with, likely Vihtavouri of some sort since I have a good amount. Need to load up .40, 10mm and .45 at some point too.

Not strictly *in* the reloading room, but I’m at this point in my life now.

    9mm - because they don't make a 9.1mm

I've thought about doing the same thing but whats the fun in that when I had 3 tumblers to burn out first, 2 down 1 to go.

Inventoried my 300 blk brass, as it seems to be going for a decent price.
