And by Bushnell I mean the new bino's, the monoculars are junk and not worth the money . They work ok for a couple months and then your lucky if they get past 400 yards .

I'm running Geovids right now and they are not reliable to 1K on poor condition days . The Terrain / PLRF05 is the shit and I'm saving pennies now , hopefully before Steel Safari this year .

the terrapin is hands down the best. its more expensive, but this is one area i can say the cost difference is actually worth the quality difference, its that big of a deal. that being said i won't spend that kind of dough on it, its just not worth it to me. to some it is.

in the affordable range there are a few options. the swaro is pretty nice. the zeiss i have had pretty good luck with. very light, ranges out to 1000 reliably, past that i have ranged out to 1500 it just gets tricky with smallish objects. the bushnell binos are good, you can range to far distances, but the glass is meh. not all that clear. the zeiss compared to the bushnell in clarity isn't even close, its way better. the binos are also heavy and have a wide beam so there is some variance in its ranging. so while you will get a range, it may not be THAT accurate. this also makes it tough to range small objects at farther distances. for my shooting purposes, the bushnell and zeiss have been fine because i only shoot a little past 1000 and i just want a fairly accurate measurement, it doesn't need to be precise. more higher end competition and stuff just wait and get the terrapin. its a tough pill to swallow but if you want to be THAT accurate and at THAT type of range, its your only option.

I guess pushing my "I want" level to "1500 yards at the least" is a little over board for my budget.

I run the Bushnell Fusions (C Ward was referring to). I second just about everything C Ward said. The laser is great (2k yards on a good day, 1k+ on a bad), having the LRF built into a bino is awesome, price is good, and the display is too dim. I wouldn't throw these out of your list till you try some.

I think these are the best value currently available. The Terrapin is hands down awesome though...

A lot of good reviews on the G7. But they are spendy.

The "Long Range Hunting" show uses/advertises them. Unless they are blowing smoke they routinely range animals out past 1000 yds -- which if you are a hunter -- know that is impressive.

I have the Swarovski. i can hit 1800 + meters on mine easy as long as the day isnt super sunny. 1200 all day everyday. I have actually used it even further, but thats just right conditions.


also, have had this monocular for 2 years now. still works like new.

the only downside to the swarovski, that I can see is... the reticle could be smaller to allow for super long distance ranging of small targets.

I was just testing mine this afternoon. 1688 meters off a moving semi doing 65+ mph. Not bad for $900. It will hit much further, but you have to hold it steady and it was a bit windy this afternoon.

yeah... I just jumped on one of these ( http://www.swarovskioptik.us/en_us/p...ic-instruments ) online yesterday... I went to Firingline and took a peak through the glass... Holy sh*t! Glass is as clear as my S&B!



on the other hand... it was a plus meeting up with mikecharley and Sneakerd up there too

I had the chance to demo one they are nice lots of set up though, the laser is made locally in centennial, actually the same laser bushnell uses, my wife works in sales for the company who makes the lasers
