I thought the tests were easy. The electronics were all freshman electrical engineering (I'm one), so nothing more than a review for me. The antenna/bands stuff was new to me so I had to study that. I bought the Technician class ARRL study guide at Ham Radio Outlet, and read it front to back. Includes the entire 350 or so question pool. For general, all I did was take practice tests on eHam.com until I could regularly score 85% or better. The funny thing is I missed 2 questions on the tech exam - which I was better prepared for - but aced the general test. Took extra, and came up 2 answers short although I didn't study for it. The guys giving the test thought I could pass that with a little more study, but it really isn't very important to me. All of these tests can be passed by rote memorization, if you don't want to study the material. However, I think it is valuable to have a solid basic understanding to be able to problem solve if SHTF and other resources to help aren't available.
