Steel target pics

I just bought a 12" piece of ar500 so I need to make a gong. so lets see them. I want to make mine like the one they have in the magpul dynamics: art of the precision rifle where they have a separate plate for the head and another plate for the body.

Mine isn't that fancy. I went for cheap and fast. A couple sticks of rebar and some black pipe welded up and walla. the AR 500 is from wideners.

Here are my steel target set ups.

Broken down. Steel is 18" in height by 12" wide. it's so light that I use this target for a thousand and out. It dances when you hit

Here's one that I use for 200 yards to 600 yards.

It's a brake rotor with another piece of steel in the back (It's now up front). I went this route so I don't have to worry about ruining it with armor piercing, or steel core rounds shooting it.

I also painted the steel reddish/pinkish high florescent color so I could find them at far distances not much for spotting hits... the back is black so when it gets hit it starts flopping around giving a good indication it was a hit...

ok here is the first prototype I made it out of some junk laying around the shop in about a hour. Im gona make a new on when I get the steel for the torso

You realize the first time you miss low you can completely destroy the stand?

I doubt it the steel I used was 1/4 inch thick so it should hold up to .308 but like I said the original plan was to put another peice of ar500 below

308 will smoke through .250 mild steel like it wasnt even there, even past 600 yards.

If you put a chunk of AR-500 in front of the base it should help. Keep in mind how low the bottom target is. If you miss low, you can throw a bunch of dirt on the plate and they get really hard to see with a fresh coat of dirt.
