I might have a chance to hunt hog on private land in Oklahoma this Spring.
Gives me an excuse for a new rifle.
Any suggestions? Right now I'm leaning toward a stainless-steel Marlin lever-action in .44 Magnum, 30/30, or 45/70.

You lucky dog! I've been wanting to hog hunt for years.
I know a lot of folks use handguns for hog hunting and I read a story recently about the Taurus 454 Casull "Raging Bull" used to hunt 4 hogs (4 guns/people). Here's the story:

Let us know what you decide to go with but keep in mind that you will want to DROP that sucker. The only thing meaner/angrier that a wild hog is an INJURED wild hog.

I keep kind of going round and round in circles. Actually not so unusual for me...
As I mentioned, it's kind of an excuse for a stainless Marlin lever-action. Although I already have a 16" 1894 in .41 Magnum (1894SS-41LTD).
Here are some LEVERevolution specs (barrel length unknown)
44 Magnum - 225gr @ 1870fps / 1747 ft/lbs
30/30 - 160gr @ 2400 fps / 2046 ft/lbs
45/70 - 325gr @ 2050 fps / 3032 ft/lbs
I already handload 41 & 44 magnum and already have guns in those calibers. I'm not really excited about yet ANOTHER caliber, but it sort of seems like every American ought to have a 30/30 or 45/70 (or both).

Yeah, I've got both myself - it's nice to have options. Of course, it also means more caliber of ammo to have on hand. I just got a set of 45/70 dies from my dad a month ago so I guess I'll have to start using the rifle and reloading for it.
Nice pic BTW

Ruger 8 3/8 .44 mag revolver would be my first choice (mostly because I own one). The second choice would be my Ruger 96 lever action .44 mag (again, because I own one).
I've taken a hog with a Colt Anaconda .44 mag revolver - was about 15 years ago. It was a kick in the pants - I recommend a revolver if you can swing it. Using a scope is cheating.
