I had a rather bad experience with their gun department and figured I would share.


I ordered a certain $2k shotgun on Feb 5, and was quoted 45 days til delivery by their gun dept. manager. At the time of order, he was a little crusty but I didn't think anything of it, so I placed my $500 down and trusted that he would hold to his 45 day quote.


At 40 days, I called and asked him to check with the mfg to see if they would be delivering at the time he gave me. Instead of being polite and helping me, the gun dept manager told me that I should be patient and he "may" call them to see when it will get here.


At 45 days I called and an employee told me that I should just wait it out and that it wasn't here yet.


I waited til day 55 to call the gun dept manager and speak to him about what was going on. I told him that if I found one in stock at another store, then I would like my money back because we were already 10 days over the limit and with no end in sight. He rudely told me that it is unfair for me to hold him to the quoted time frame, and that essentially, because I was being so impatient and unfair, he couldn't give me my money back. He then passed the buck off to the store manager and said if I wanted my money back, then I need to physically come in to the store and speak with said manager.


If someone had just done their due diligence and called the mfg to find out where my shotgun was, or explained to me why it was late in a respectful manner, this really wouldn't have been such a big issue. But, when I call and ask the manager to find out where my $2k product is, and he essentially refuses to help, we may have an issue.


I did in fact come in and the manager gave me a full refund of my deposit, no questions asked. The employees I dealt with were polite and helpful. The store seems pretty nice, and I would hate to give them a bad rating for anything else. But, the fact remains that every time I dealt with the gun dept. manager, it was simply a terrible and rude experience. Because of that, I wouldn't buy a gun from Garretsons ever again.

ETA: found the same shotgun, NIB, on Gun broker for $55 less than Garretsons OTD price. I'll have Jensens take care of the FFL part for this one
