    Default 5 rnd limits?

I will be hunting with my M14 this season.

I believe the law is only 1 in the chamber and 5 in the rifle but I don't own any 5 round mags. Will I get in trouble if I use my 20 rounders and only put 5 in it.

And you would be suprised, theres just about a 5 round mag for everything - AR's, SKS's, M1 Garands, Carbines, AK-47/74's, etc. etc. I'm sure theres a 5 round M-14 magazine out there.
C-Products makes a 5rd mag. Word of caution, it sits flush with the bottom of the rifle and is a MOTHER to get back out. I'd personally buy a ten round mag and drill/pop-rivet it to stop at 5rds, then at least you can get it out later.

That sounds like the best idea. I can buy 10 rounders locally.

    Wink

Get the 10 rounder and use dowels to stop at 5.. Much easier to get out than a rivet..

Yah thats true, same as a mag limit for a tube shotgun. I just thought 'rivet' cause then there's NO way a DoW guy can say he was over the round count.

as long as you have something in the mag that will limit it to 5 rounds you are okay. shotguns are a total of 3 rounds. They make plastic plugs you put into the mag tube that limits it.
For your M14, i would take the same advice given here. just make sure it limits it to 5 rounds. I was elk hunting last month with a muzzleloader and DOW came around, checked licenses, hunter orange, and gun compliance. Its the first time i have even been checked, but lucky for me i know the laws. he said he gives a lot of tickets for guys who dont have all there gear in compliance. There are a lot more DOW guys out there during rifle season due to the increase in hunters.

Also, make sure when you are driving you don't have a round in the chamber. the mag can be loaded but not one in the mag. Just read your big game guide free from walmart and you will be GTG.
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.
