Default Re: Arrest for open carry

What's wrong with walking into a liquor store while open carrying? Doesn't mean a person is going straight to the cooler and slamming 10 beers before leaving the store and then driving home. Is there anything wrong with picking up a 6er, driving home, putting your gun away and enjoying a nice cold beer in the evening?

    No can do.
From the El Paso County Sheriff CCW site:
    http://shr.elpasoco.com/Support+Serv...gun+Permit.htm

Can I obtain a concealed handgun permit if I
use or possess marijuana for either medical or
    recreational use?

    No, Statute 18-12-203
The Sheriff cannot issue a permit to carry
concealed to any applicant who is an unlawful user
of or addicted to a controlled substance, which
includes marijuana. The statute says that “whether
[a permit] applicant is an unlawful user of or
addicted to a controlled substance shall be
determined as provided in federal law and regulations.”
Despite Colorado’s laws, marijuana continues to be unlawful
    under federal law.

Let me clarify a bit on my original statement. The young man going into the liquor store open-carrying was not the problem. The problem was the holster was pure shit in regard to quality and retention. It's your call what you feel comfortable retaining your firearm, but when I see garbage like that now I have to be concerned for someone else tearing it off your hip and using it against you/me. If you choose to OC, that's on you, but get the handgun in a quality holster with adequate retention. I have said on other threads I don't care for OC and think it's just a need for attention IMO.

Back on topic, this video is sickening. I stopped watching 3 minutes in after the LEO said that he was exempt from the law. I hope these assholes get stripped of their badges, fired, and then barred from ever owning firearms. Clearly they do not know or understand the law which they are entrusted with upholding.

***this is absolutely not an attack on LEOs, but an attack on these individual scumbags. I hope they rot for it.

i would also like to know what the laws in Colorado are regarding detention.

if this happens to someone, are we expected to just bend over and take it up the ass and hope that a jury sorts it out later?

Carrying and smoking pot would be the analog of carying and drinking from an open bottle of whiskey.

That being said, maybe the way to answer this question is to ask if anyone has ever been hassled or contacted by cops while carrying, over the fact that they are carrying? What happened?

One member here was contacted at a grocery store in Arvada a year or two back in response to a call of "man with a gun". After a short time, it turned into a nonevent.
