Used to use the casualty blankets with the sleeping bags. The old ones were double layer green and silver and worked very well. All that is is double layer Mylar with self-inflating bubble wrap. Now for people that backpack and for a BOB it would be a good thing.

We keep a space blanket along with wool blankets in the cars. The truck has two of the old military space blankets along with a wool blanket and a cheap sleeping bag. The combo staying in the truck would be unbeatable for staying warm.

At 29 pounds it is not cheap but an idea for the car/truck.
