I am by no means an experienced paper puncher and the other day I shot a 5 shot group that could covered with a quarter at 100yds with my 17HMR. But there was little to no wind. Wind does move them a lot.

Shooting the 17 at 50 yards is big time BORING. Way too easy.Quote:

Here were some 5 shot groups right out of the box:
I was shooting Hornady .17 HMR 17 Gr. VMax's at first then ran out and started using Remington 17gr boat tails.
The best group of 5 I got at 100yards was .993" or .800" center to center.
The best group of 5 I got at 50 yards was .580" or .398" center to center.
