I pulled the craptastic thumb safety off of mine. I still need to get the magazine safety out of it and do something about the sites to mimic my M&P9.

It is?? The M&P22 looks totally different than the P22. Different size, grips, slide, hammer, safety, magazine release, everything.

The slide cracked in my P22 at 7K rounds. S&W handles CS for Walther, and they fixed it quickly paying shipping both ways. It was a fun to shoot for a while, but I grew bored with it because it wasn't particularly accurate compared to similarly priced Buck Marks and Rugers. Mine needed lots of fixes from the P22 Bible to keep it running. The safety walked itself into the on position, the trigger bar ate into the slide, and the hammer spring broke twice. Ladies loved the looks of it, but when it came to shooting they all prefered my Buck Mark.

I'm on my second Buck Mark, each going over 15K rounds with no major problems. I use it to compete in the rimfire division of Steel Challenge, which requires shots out to 35 yards. Browning Buck Marks are the most common pistol at the upper levels at the CRC matches, with Rugers being a close second. If I were to do it all over again, I'd go straight to a Buck Mark or Ruger.

Start saving for a S&W model 41. you will never regret the price.

Copyright infringement. read the small print on pistol where it says MFG and or the owners manual. I was going to sell my P22 to get a M&P22. Upon inspection I felt it useless to sell one 22 for another one by the same mfg. Only needing to buy different mags at a then insane price,So i passed. Offed the few p22's i had, to combine the rim fire pistols to one that uses the same mags, Ruger MK III 22/45's SUPPRESSED!

I have a GSG 1911 that has been a great shooter.
