There is a lot of talk about food on this forum but one thing I've noticed is that it's all largely anecdotal. A very easy way to analyze this for those that strenuously exercise every day is to see how yesterday's diet is propelling them today. If you are stacking food, try what you are stacking for a day or two and then see how your energy level is on a really tough 90 minute workout (be it running, gym, 14'er, whatever).
Conventional-wisdom/common beliefs don't always pan out....
