Understandable. I've been making due without a pickup for 5 years. I've tried all kinds of things to cram crap in my wife's element.

Yeah, the 2x4s I can fit if I fold the front seat down (8ft) and the OSB (not plywood) will be cut in half to make 2'x8' sheets for the shelves... so i should be able to fit those in the same way. I just don't want to tear up my brand new car

    Beach towels and blankets.

I'm in the same boat...miss my longbed. I could throw anything in there.

Says the guy who takes it off road.

buy a HF trailer for a few $$. We scored a 4x8 on CL for $150.

I don't just drive into rocks and trees when I'm offroad... I use the vehicle's abilities to go where I want to go safely and I use the built in features and protections to prevent vehicle damage.

I'll probably buy a trailer eventually, but in the meantime, I have to build shelves so that I have a place to put all the junk that is in the garage where I would park the trailer.

Any project is an opportunity to get something that I've wanted/needed.

ex: you need to get the wood from the store to your house safely. The easy way to do that is to procure a trailer and not cause undue wear and tear on your vehicle's interior.

    easy.
