Its true bullsnakes will out compete rattlers and even occasionally eat them, but at my place I have plenty of both. "Red racers" too. Biggest bull snakes I've ever seen in abundance around here. They crawl out onto the road to sun themselves in the spring and sadly, a lot of them get run over by cars. These red racers, which I had never seen before moving out to rural Pueblo county, are bright pink when they shed their skins for a day or two. Interesting creatures.

I have a seven footer on my wall.
And yes they are damn good table fair. Deep fried, smoked, broiled. even good on the grill.
.22 through the head doesn't mess up anything, except their day.

I almost went out last year - I WILL go out this year. Perhaps we can set up a CO-AR15 Rattlesnake Hunting Day somewhere?

Doesn't the season start somewhere around June 15?

GreenScout, I'd LOVE to take you up on that offer. I would use a firearm as a backup to using a snake stick and machete.

Cool, I wouldn't mind inevitably taking a shot shell round of 9mm in the ass at some point in the day.

Ain't nothing like going to a rattlesnake roundup and looking at a pit full of snakes!
