    That applies to helmets that have been in constant use. . Now you find one that's been in the box / closeout, there's nothing wrong with them. The flip side is one that's new, the wearer took it off and dropped it on the ground a time or two.

    Shelf life.
    The MRA (Motorcycle Racing Association) didn't allow racers to have helmets on the track that were 5 years old or older.. whether or not it looked new or not... liability reasons maybe?
    I was rocking helmets on the track that were at the 5 year mark... the helmet I cracked was at it's 5 year mark.. and it held up well. I did knock off a few bolts upstairs, but the helmet did help keep most of it together
