Well, I was wondering if you can generally get pieces to do stairs in any type of flooring that is sold? I assume I'll have to contact the manufacturer of the stuff I've been installing to see if they make the stair nose stuff. Otherwise I'm not sure how I'm going to do the stairs.

Tile is something I haven't really ever done before.

Depends on type/line of flooring you are using.

Most of the popular/big name brands have options for stairs, either stair nose or some sort of trim. Always had good luck with prefinished natural wood(sometimes nonstock but available) stair nosing, transition and trim options. Not sure on some of the laminates/composites.

If no product is available from manufacturer then you make your own. I have had the best luck with making my own wood nosing/trim and using a complimentary/contrasting color to avoid issues with color matching.

    Tile depends on product.

Went through the ringer with some laminate flooring a while back. Ordered what I thought would be enough stair nose well in advance of a project, after starting realized I needed more. Company had changed colors, designs and dimensions on me and had no old stock. Ended up having to custom diy make some stair nose and stain to match.

Irving, you supposed to plan for stairs before you buy the flooring.

I didn't buy the flooring or do the plans. This is the cheapest laminate at Home Depot, so I'm skeptical that stair nose will be available. I doubt that making my own is going to be an option though. Uh oh.

We got some super cheap stuff on sale at Sams club. It was really easy to work with install.
